Tesla Model X Wins SUV Drag Race

It is impressive to see that electric SUVs are able to surpass vehicles that were designed with maximum performance in mind. The Tesla Model X managed to beat 3 competitive models in a drag race.

Strong competition

The most interesting adversary is the Lamborghini Urus. Lamborghini is known for bold supercars and Urus retains the sport pedigree that made the Italian company famous. A 4, 0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine powers up the car as 642 hp perfectly match a design that was clearly built for speed as it is able to go from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

While the Mercedes-AMG G63 was developed for off-road activities it is also able to reach impressive speeds. It is clear that the boxy frame was built for though roads but the aerodynamics are pretty good. A manually-assembled 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo V8 engine generates 563 hp and the German SUV is able to reach 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

Last but not least is the Range Rover Sport SVR, a masterful mixture of classic elegance and incredible speed. The British offering sports a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers 575 hp which is able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.

Tesla’s Model X P100D is an electric beast. The massive SUV is fitted with a 100kWh battery and dual electric motors that are capable to put out 772 hp. The instant torque offered by the electric motors makes the difference as Tesla’s SUV is able to reach 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

When it came to the drag race the Tesla clearly beats the competition. When the race started Tesla zipped by the other cars, finishing first in 11.3 seconds. The Lamborghini Urus came second in 11.9, while the Mercedes-AMG G63 scored an impressive 12.3 seconds. While the Range Rover Sport SVR is quite agile, it was the last to finish the race in 12.9 seconds.
