Car lovers have a new beauty to admire. McLaren Automotive recently introduced the 720S Spider and it is truly a sight for sore eyes. Let’s take a closer look at it.
The interior has the same minimalist design that the 720S coupe introduced. The new model comes with an eight-inch touchscreen. A digital display replaced the analog instrument and it is used to display important information, such as the speed, the temperature and other data.
For this new car, McLaren introduced two new colors: Aztec Gold and Belize Blue. These two join the other 23 colors available for McLaren cars. In order to take the top off, you just need to press a button and wait for 11 seconds. The top can be opened or closed at speeds up to 31 mph.
The car comes with a win-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-meters). The car will be sold in Luxury, Performance and Standard flavors. Orders for the 720S Spider are already accepted.
Those want something extra can pay more in order to receive a 720 S Spider equipped with a glazed RHT featuring a carbon fiber frame. This would allow users to decide whether they want transparent or tinted glass, and the change will be made with the press of a button.
The car gets from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, which is quite an achievement for a convertible. The 720S Spider sprints from 0 to 186 mph in 22.4 seconds, and it brakes from 124 mph to a stop in 4.6 seconds.
The maximum speed of the car was also improved. This one can be driven at 31 mph (50 kph). This is an improvement compared to the 18.5 mph (30 kph) of the 650S Spider. In addition to that, the top of the 650S Spider needed 17 seconds to be lowered or raised, six seconds more than the latest model.
