Pokemon Go Gen 4: What We Know So Far?

Pokemon GO is expecting some more Gen 4 Pokemon. The 4th generation of Pokemon began to show up in the game since October. As we already know from previous generations, they are usually released in multiple stages.

Twenty-six variants were released in the first stage. They included Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. They also made an appearance during the December Community Day.

Leaks and speculation

Since October we had three batches of Gen 4 Pokemon. At the moment players are looking forward to finding out what the next Pokemon will be. It appears that the upcoming Pokemon have leaked so we can take a look at them.

The data was published by Charles, who is a well known Pokemon Go data miner. Therefore, we have plenty of reasons to believe that this information is correct. On December 6 he posted the following tweet:

2 days late but some missing pokemon sprites were added
a lot of gen4 3D models were updated without any important visual changehttps://t.co/5LiNqbY333 pic.twitter.com/K54pL6ERDd

In the images posted by Charles, we can see Bonsly, Croagunk, Yanmega and Tangrowth. Yanmega is the evolution of Yanma, Tangrowth is the evolution of Tangela, Bonsly is the small version of Sudowoodo, and Croagunk is a completely new Pokemon.

Pokemon Go PvP

Pokemon GO is also preparing another big update. Players will be allowed to battle each other in a new PvP mode. Here are the details shared by Niantic:

Your selected team of Pokémon will be able to execute both their Fast Attack and Charged Attack moves. In preparation for battle, you’ll even be able to use Stardust and Candy to unlock a bonus Charged Attack for your Pokémon. Timing is important!

If you use your head and keep an eye on your opponent’s moves, you may be able to deploy a Protect Shield to save your Pokémon from critical damage. But you only have a limited number of these shields before your Pokémon will be left defenseless.
