It seems that Samsung is exploring new possibilities. The Korean giant has recently hired self-driving car engineers and there are signs that the company may soon announce a new division research & development division for autonomous vehicle.
Samsung refused to acknowledge the move but certain sources claim that the new division may be announced in the first months of 2019.
The same source claims that Samsung may start to produce chips for the Tesla Model 3 in March 2019. Some believe that Samsung wants to join the race in order to compete with LG Electronics as the latter has announced a task force focused on autonomous driving.
Samsung has been quite busy in the recent months. The tech titan has recently launched an improved A9 smartphone that became the first device to feature four cameras on the rear, an achievement in both hardware and software. The middle range device is able to use an advanced AI in order to take and render the best images possible.
During a private event the company has also formally unveiled a perfected flexible display. A prototype for a smartphone with flexible display has been also shown but the main body was kept in the dark as the company wants to keep the design hidden at this point. The long awaited Samsung Galaxy X (or Flex according to some) may arrive in 2019 after extensive quality control tests are passed.
In January the company may reveal the Samsung Galaxy S10. Marking 10 years since the Galaxy line was first launched the device is hotly anticipated by users and critics. Many believe that Samsung will certainly bundle bleeding edge technology in order to celebrate the moment. Until now it is known that the device will feature an advanced ultra-sonic in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G and an improved neuronal chip.
It remains to be seen if Samsung will actually produce chips for Tesla but the move would certainly benefit both companies.
