Minecraft: The Update For Outdated Consoles Is Available For A Limited Period Of Time

Technology evolves quickly and we have no choice but to keep up with it. However, most of the time some devices are left behind. This is what happened to consoles such as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PlayStation Vita. While they brought us a lot of joy in the past, it appears that they are too old for Minecraft’s updates.

The consoles won’t receive Microsoft support when it comes to Minecraft. It has been announced that 2018 is the last year in which the aforementioned consoles will receive an update. Starting with 2019 only Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will get Minecraft updates.

“As we pack up our Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita and WiiU development kits, we’re getting all nostalgic ? Please share some of your best memories over the past six and a half years of Minecraft on these consoles!” tweeted 4J Studios.

One last update

Old consoles received one last update before the year is over. Its name is The Nightmare before Christmas, and as you could have already guessed, the update comes with a themed-character pack inspired by the famous movie. You can read more about it here.

Saying goodbye

It might be a bit sad to see an era end, but PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Wii U already had their times of glory. Microsoft did not mention anything about the servers of the game, and they should remain online. We were not told anything about the complete closing of the servers.

If you own any of these older consoles and you enjoy playing Minecraft, you might want to consider an upgrade in the future. While the game will remain available on your consoles, updates will become available only for more modern consoles such as Nintendo Switch, 3DS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
