BioWare Wants to Keep the Mass Effect Series Alive

In the past years BioWare has constantly received praise the games that the studio has released as many think that the studio is the uncrowned king of role-playing games. From Baldur’s Gate to Dragon Age, BioWare constantly reinvented the RPG genre with many innovations and additions that led to the modern RPGs loved by millions of people from all over the world.

The Mass Effect series has been one of the most successful video game franchises in in their portfolio. The series feature a deep and original setting, captivating stories and enjoyable companions. But as with all video game series there have been a few bumps on the road.

When Mass Effect 3 was released many fans were disappointed by the ending of the original trilogy, claiming that their choices were worthless since any player could choose the end by pushing one out of three buttons.  The answer was the release of a DLC that extended the ending and gave a more solid argument for what happened in each case.

The fan base was appeased for the moment but the coals of fury would be reignited once the latest title in the series was released. Mass Effect: Andromeda was plagued by a series of issues that ranged from poor animations to even poorer storytelling and creative direction. Many believed that the series will end here, as low sale numbers may discourage EA from approving the development of another title but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In an update posted on the official BioWare blog, Casey Hudson mentioned the celebrations that take place during the N7 day, the anniversary of the release day for the first game in the series. The post mentions that BioWare will continue to provide patches that will improve the performance of Mass Effect: Andromeda, but it also hints the future is still bright for the series.

A new title could redeem the series while also keeping alive one of the most beloved franchises of all time.
