PlayStation Now Versus Microsoft Project xCloud: Which One Is The Ideal Streaming Service

The eternal battle between Xbox and PlayStation also exists when it comes to streaming services. Microsoft Project xCloud and PlayStation Now are also in direct competition. One of them uses the game library of PlayStation, while the other one is based on Xbox. The PlayStation Now has already been released and it was available since 2018, while the Project xCloud is expected to come out this year.

What is next?

In the future, we should see mature game streaming for Google and Microsoft, as they had some time to perfect everything. The streaming service was released right after the PlayStation 4 was launched. This means that it has been around for almost half a decade. During that time it reached Windows PCs as well and it came with titles for PS2, PS3, and PS4.

On the other hand, Project xCloud represents the beginning for Microsoft. The project is expected to use the Xbox ecosystem, and it will be interesting to see how it will battle its rivals.

“The future of gaming is a world where you are empowered to play the games you want, with the people you want, whenever you want, wherever you are, and on any device of your choosing. Our vision for the evolution of gaming is similar to music and movies — entertainment should be available on demand and accessible from any screen,” started the Microsoft announcement.

PlayStation Now came out in 2014, but it still hasn’t managed to fulfill some of its promises. For example, users were promised availability on both tablets and phones, and this still hasn’t happened yet. This could be something that they change in 2019, especially if Microsoft will release its Project xCloud. PlayStation Now costs $19.99 per month, and it works on PC and PlayStation 4. For Project xCloud we don’t have a price yet but we know that it should work on Xbox, PCs, phones and tablets.
