Huawei MediaPad M5 vs. iPad: Which One’s a Better Buy?

Huawei has been doing its best to keep up with Apple in the tablet line, but can the MediaPad M5 and MediaPad M5 Pro compare with Apple’s current $329 (9.7-inch) iPad?

Let’s take a look at the comparison below and see which one wins the race.

Huawei MediaPad M5 vs. iPad

We can all agree that Huawei cannot race against Apple’s iPad Pro in terms of performance and design, but we will focus on the MediaPad M5 ($329), M5 Pro ($449) and the 9.7-inch iPad from Apple ($329).

What do the M5 and M5 Pro bring to the table to compete with the current iPad?

First of all, Huawei’s M5 and M5 Pro are as durable as the iPad and their Kirin chipsets did great on Geekbench 4 scores: MediaPad M5 Pro – 5,868, MediaPad M5 – 6,457, compared with iPad’s A10 Fusion which only scored 5,983.

But Huawei is considering the launch of their MediaPad M5 Lite which will have an Octa-core Kirin 659 CPU – over a year old. Meanwhile, Apple will surely add something better to the future iPad mini 5.

Still, what the MediaPad M5 Lite will bring to the table is a much cheaper price – $299, and the support for multiple users, which means kids can log into their interface with their fingerprints.

iPad wins in terms of software with the iOS 12 compared with Mediapads’ EMUI Android 8.0 Oreo. If Apple also adds the family-friendly multiple users support, it would be a great improvement.

Verdict: Huawei MediaPad M5 vs. iPad

If you’re aiming for the lower price and you’re not interested in many AR apps from the app store, you can definitely opt for the MediaPad M5 line. But if you want a tablet to use more often and get access to many other things, you should go for the iPad or wait a little longer for the iPad mini 5.
