The Super Smash Bros. Melee Would Not Feature At EVO 2019

The EVO 2019 lineup is missing one important name: Super Smash Bros. Melee. Fans were very disappointed to discover that the game won’t be featured at the EVO edition which will take place this year.

In fact, this decision is a strange one. The game was present at all well known fighting game tournaments, and things have been like this for many years. Despite the fact that the game is 17 years old, it still managed to attrat numerous live viewers.

There were many important names in the community, such as Joseph “Mango” Marquez, Juan “Hungrybox” Diebmada, and William “Leffen” Hjelte, and they managed to attract their own fanbase. EVO also came up with a thank you video for Super Smash Bros.

Moving on

The EVO line-up was announced by organisers recently, and it is nice to see that they paid respects to the Super Smash Bros. However, the video can also be a sign that Melee won’t return to EVO in the upcoming years, and this is a definitive decision.

It appears that Melee will be replaced by Super Smash Bros, as the game will be part of the tournament. Other popular games such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Soul Calibur 6 will also be present there. Gamers might be surprised to discover certain titles, such as Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]. The 2D fighter was created by Ecole Software and French-Bread and it isn’t that well-known in the gaming community.

EVO also listed Samurai Shodown, which is expected to come out this summer. This could be a challenge for players, as they won’t have too much time to purchase the game and get accustomed to it before the tournament.
