Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi 5 from Xiaomi will not receive the Android 9 Pie. However, at least this major update will be introduced for the Xiomi Redmi 6/6A and the Redmi 6 Pro. The Redmi 6 trio is right there on the waiting list for the Android 9 Pie. There is one disadvantage though, as this upgrade would not arrive sooner than in mid-2019, that being late Q2 or early Q3 in 2019. At least it is happening.
This month we were announced that Redmi 6A would be getting another MIUI update that carries version MIUI 10.2.7 and contains bug fixes. In addition to that, the phone will also get the February Android security patch update.
In February, we were announced that people could sign in the beta registration program, that has been opened by Xiaomi, into Android 9 Pie for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Y2, and Redmi 6 Pro in India.
Xiaomi Redmi 6/6A and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Would Get Android 9 Pie Update By Mid-2019
In the first month of this year, the closed beta MIUI 10 9.1.26 based on Android 9 Pie update has been made available to download for Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro users. The Recovery update can be downloaded from the mentioned link. At the same time, the Redmi 6A was getting the stable MIUI 10.2.6 update based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
A new stable MIUI 10.2.4 update based Android Oreo 8.1 is also coming to Redmi 6 which is being shipped globally.
Because Redmi 6 Pro has some ties with the Xiaomi Mi A2 lite, this phone will get the Android Pie 9.0 update. Hopefully, all these updates find you well, and as a Xiaomi owner, you will get the Android 9 Pie upgrade as soon as you would like or need it. At least, the Android 9 Pie upgrade for Xiaomi Redmi 6/6A and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is happening soon.
