Xbox Live Is Now Available On iOS But Not On Nintendo Switch

Microsoft made the official announcement, letting us know that Xbox Live is coming to iOS and Android. However, fans noticed right away that Nintendo Switch support seems to be missing. Nonetheless, this could be just the first step, and Switch might join the list in the future.

The new cross platform mobile software development kit will help Microsoft make Xbox games available across different platforms. This should be a big advantage for Xbox gaming.

“We believe so strongly in community, and Xbox Live really being at the heart of our gaming community. If you watch what we’ve done, especially with Minecraft, over the past few years we’ve taken Xbox Live to as many platforms as Minecraft is on as possible. Really uniting all those communities together with a consistent singular experience for those gamers,” explained Kareem Choudhry, Microsoft’s gaming cloud chief.

Developers will be able to use the Xbox Live toolkit in order to include Xbox achievements, messaging, Microsoft sign-in, cloud saves and more on the new available platforms.   If we take a look at Minecraft, we can see that something similar already happened to the game.

When asked about Nintendo Switch, Microsoft offered a vague answer: ““Our goal is to really unite the 2 billion gamers of the world and we’re big fans of our Xbox Live community, but we don’t have any specific announcements as it relates to Switch today.” Therefore, there is also a chance that Xbox Live won’t come out on Nintendo Switch as well.

More than that, Choudhry also explained that Microsoft would be willing to release Xbox Live on PS4 as long as Sony is okay with it. “If you’ve watched us for the past few years, we’ve taken a very inclusive approach,” he concluded.
