The Android operating system is comprised of many services that take care of high-priority tasks. This might come as a surprise to some of you, but the most important Android component is none other than Google Play Services. This is a background app that helps Google’s operating system provide users with a premium user experience and this is why the Android parent is updating it with constant software improvements and bug fixes.
Google Play Services
Since Google Play Services is a background app, many Android fans have no idea what it does on their smartphones. This resulted in lots of Android fans deleting Google Play Services from their smartphones only to be left shocked after seeing that all their other apps don’t work anymore. The reason behind this is that Google Play Services provides core functionality such as authentication to other Google services, access to all the latest user privacy settings and much more.
New 18.4.52 Beta Update
Today we are talking about Google Play Services because the background app has just received a new update. The update sports the 18.4.52 Beta version number and it’s rolling out via Google’s official OTA (over the air) channels right now. Therefore, all Android fans who are enrolled in the beta program are scheduled to receive the update later today.
Software Improvements
Considering the fact that Google Play Services is a background app, then no one shouldn’t be shocked to find out that the new update comes with under the hood software improvements. The reason why these improvements are dubbed as under the hood is because while Android fans might not be able to see them, they are certainly going to feel them since they enhance the speed at which Google Play Services runs.
