An internal-only version of Windows 10 has been mistakenly released recently by Microsoft to testers, so now we can have a good look at the new design of the Start menu. Windows 10 build 18947 was distributed by the software giant to Windows Insider testers using 32-bit devices.
This version’s purpose is internal Xbox development. The canary branch of the company has built this for internal use only, but Windows 10 testers got access to it thanks to Microsoft. Even though they might be slow ring testing, fast ring or in release preview, all testers got it. However, it can’t be accessed anymore.
A small group of insiders tested the new Windows 10 build
Even though it was not released to other systems than 32-bit ones, which are rarely used, this is not a could move for Microsoft’s reputation as it made a lot of efforts to properly test Windows 10.
With this internal build you will get a different-looking Start menu without the Live Tiles we were used to. This is tested by the company only for Windows Lite, which means we might not get rid of the Live Tiles in Windows 10 as fast. In addition to that, the new build came with a GIF search tool that was located within the emoji picker for Windows 10.
That’s not a first
Microsoft had made this mistake before a few years ago when it released the Windows 10’s internal versions for mobile and PC. That happened in 2017, and some devices were even caused an emergency reboot loop because of this.
The mistake did not escape unseen, and a recovery tool was offered to each affected user. Dona Sakar, the Insider Chef of Microsoft’s Windows, said that the latest issue is being analyzed by the company.
