Pillars of Eternity To Launch On Nintendo Switch On August 8th

The highest funded game in 2012, Pillars of Eternity, will launch to the Nintendo Switch eShop on 8th of August, this year. The game is already available for consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We will now experience Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition with all its downloadable content and expansions specially made for PCs.

Obsidian Entertainment developed the role-playing video game and released for Microsoft, OS X, and Linux in 2015. Pillars of Eternity succeeded Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale series. There is something special about this game, as in September 2012, Obsidian started a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for the game. The astonishing amount of US$4 million was raised, making Pillars of Eternity the highest-funded video game at the time.

The action for this game takes place in the fantasy world of Eora. Eora is part of the nation of Drywood. The action starts when the children of Drywood are affected by a phenomenon from their birth. In that phenomenon, they come in the world with no soul. As the main character, you will experience an awakening of power which takes place in a catastrophic supernatural event. You will discover you are a ”Watcher’ and you can see past lives and interact with souls. Your goal is to find out the cause of the awakening and resolve the hollowborn problem.

Fallout: New Vegas, and South Park: The Stick of Truth are the games that made Obsidian famous in the gaming world. The gaming company is also known as being the first one to bring Pillars to Linux, Mac, and Windows PC in 2015, reviving the isometric RPG genre. Pillars brought innovations in many areas, and the most important ones were in the tactics-based fights and the killer storyline. After Pillars, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire launched for the Switch in 2018.
