If you have a low-powered computer you might have already discovered that it is almost impossible to use it in order to play PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The good news is that things are about to change. A lite version of the game is currently being tested.
At the moment, tests take place in Thailand. PUBG Corp explained that the slimmed down version of the game is for “players in areas where the core game’s required specifications are more difficult to achieve due to the hardware available.” Therefore, we can’t be sure that more developed countries will receive it as well.
PUBG Lite does not have all the features of the regular version at the moment. Solo, duo and squad battles are all available, but only in third-person mode. Out of the four maps, only Erangel, the first one, is available for this version of the game.
Changed requirements
The changes are quite noticeable. For example, the regular PUBG had as minimum requirements an Intel Core i5-4430 or AMD FX-6300 processor, 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R7 370 with 2GB of VRAM, and 30GB of hard drive space. Meanwhile, PUBG Lite can run with a Core i3 2.4GHz or better CPU, 4GB of RAM, 4GB of hard drive space. The game even works with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated graphics processor. It is also recommended to have Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10, 64-bit.
Hopefully this new game version will offer everyone a chance to play one of the most popular battle royale games. It would be interesting to see if something similar will ever exist for PUBG Mobile. It could be nice to have a PUBG Mobile Lite version for mobile phones that have lower specs.
