The latest Minecraft update added a new interesting ability by accident: wall running. This isn’t on the official list of changes, so we can only assume that it was added by accident and it will be corrected in a future update. Fans believe that wall running is the result of a bug, although they do appreciate it. “This would be a cool feature”, commended Reddit user JamesBeYeezy.
“Just for context, this isn’t a trick or a prank or anything,” revealed Minecrafter NatalieZem on Reddit “In the recent snapshot, you can’t jump while pressing against a block. And apparently not being able to raise your elevation also means you can’t lower it either. Try it for yourself: All you need to do is stay sprinting into the wall and you can move along it.”
Until now, running around walls was impossible in Minecraft. This new feature shouldn’t last for too long though. If it is the result of a bug, developers should make sure to correct it as fast as possible. However, if you love this new ability, you don’t have to worry about losing it. Even if it is removed from the game, you can always find mods that allow you to do this once again. You can also discover even more advanced options.
The update
The latest update brought several improvements and changes. For example, in 19W04B a series of bugs were fixed:
MC-142951 – Glitched collision with shulkers and boats
MC-142942 – Collision boxes don’t interact with walls correctly
MC-142913 – Unable to jump when up against a block
19W04A added Stonecutter functionality and it made the collision code better. Then, in 19W04B new Stonecutter recipes were added. Players can also install the snapshot. In order to do that, the Minecraft Launcher needs to be opened and snapshots can be enabled from the “Launch Options” tab.
