“We’re definitely not done with Mass Effect,” said Mike Darrah who is the executive producer for BioWare’s latest game called Anthem in a recent interview. Mike Darrah and Casey Hudson who is the general manager of BioWare recently did an interview with Polygon where they made it loud and clear that the Mass Effect franchise has not been scrapped. However, the two BioWare executives also said that it’s going to be a long time until we hear news about a new Mass Effect game.
The Mass Effect Franchise
Even though it might seem like BioWare is too busy working on other games to even consider a new Mass Effect game, Mike Darrah decided to let everyone know that the future is looking bright for Mass Effect fans.
“We’re definitely not done with Mass Effect. There’s a lot of stories to be told. We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. There’s a lot of interesting space to be explored,” added Mike Darrah.
Dragon Age 4 Production
On the other hand, Mike Darrah revealed that the main BioWare team is busy working on Dragon Age 4. This is one of the most highly anticipated games in the world and BioWare doesn’t want to take any risks with it by rushing to release the game early in order to start working on Mass Effect and other titles.
There’s also Anthem which is going to release soon. Even though Anthem might already be finished, this is an online game and it requires constant updates in order to keep offering fresh and exciting content to players.
With that said, we think it’s safe to assume that we are going to have at least a couple of more years until BioWare finally decides that time has come for a new Mass Effect game.
