Xiaomi Mi 8 SE receives the new MIUI 10 update

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE was introduced in China back in May 2018 as a budget alternative to the popular Mi 8. The device is a bit more modest, sporting a 5.88-inch notched display and Qualcomm’s mighty Snapdragon 710 SoC.

The device proved to be quite popular on the market and many hoped that the China-exclusive device will make an appearance in other countries but that was not the case.

Upon release, the device arrived with Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 9.5. After a successful beta trial a stable release is now on its way.

Here are some of the features that will arrive with the new update:

New navigational gestures

Android Pie added support for a wide variety of gesture and the new feature has been successfully implemented in MIUI 10. The gestures feel natural and the system will recognize the command in a flash. A remarkable addition is represented by the fact that you can swipe from one side of a screen to the other and hold the finger in order to switch apps.

Volume slider and Notification shade

MIUI 10 has completely changed its notification shade and volume slider in order to unify the design. Both features look very similar to the vanilla versions that can be found in stock Android P. When a user will press on either of the volume buttons the device will change media volume.

Picture-in-Picture

This functionality was introduced by Android 8.0 Oreo but the company decided to skip it at that time. The PiP is great for those that enjoy multitasking, allowing them to perform a variety of tasks at the same time.

Autofill

This one will improve the quality-of-life for those that have to juggle with several accounts. The credentials are stored securely and users are able to quickly sign-in with just one tap.

Global versions of the new MIUI 10 update will be rolled out on February 15.
