Borderlands 2 had a huge success and fans are awaiting the release of Borderlands 3. Quite some time has passed since the last game was launched, and there is not official announcement about the next one.
Game developer Gearbox kept busy by delivering Battleborn, as well as two spin-offs. However, there is not word about Borderlands 3, despite the fact that we are all waiting for it. However, fans did discover some clues, and there are plenty of rumours and speculations online.
When will the game come out?
As you already know, there is no official release date for Borderlands 3. However, this does not mean that we can’t anticipate the date. Many sources seem to believe that it is very likely that the game will be announced this year. In fact, according to several reports, Gearbox wanted to keep the release window between 2018 and 2019. Since 2018 is long gone, we can still expect a 2019 announcement.
The lead writer left the project
The development of the game might have been slowed down by the departure of Mike Neumann, who was the lead writer of the game. We received the news from a report that was released in June 2017. Sadly, health complications determined Neumann to resign from Gearbox.
His role was an important one, and it is difficult to tell how much the game was affected by this event. We do not know whether the story was completed, and it is unclear whether there was someone who took over Neumann’s positon.
Other clues
At one point, Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox did show us a tech demo that revealed the possibilities of the art style of Borderlands. Technology has evolved a lot, which should allow developers to enhance the art style. For example, there have been multiple advancements when it comes to the lighting technology.
