PlayStation 5 or PS5 for short is going to change the gaming industry and there is no doubt about that. PS5 will make it possible for game developers to create better-looking AAA games which is going to bring console gaming closer to PC. Therefore, no one should be shocked to find out that the internet is buzzing with rumors and speculation in anticipation for PS5’s release date. Sadly, Sony has yet to announce an official release date for PS5.
PlayStation 5 2021 Release Date
Rakuten Securities is an Economic Research Institute based in Tokyo and it recently released an analysis report on Sony’s finances and upcoming products. Yasuo Imanaka who is an analyst for Rakuen Securities said that we shouldn’t expect PS5 to arrive in 2020. The analyst stated that PS5 is more than likely going to hit the market in 2021.
Sony has already announced that a bunch of great games are going to launch in 2020 including major titles such as The Last of Us Part II and Ghosts of Tsushima. Therefore, Sony doesn’t have any reason to rush and release PS5 since the former two games will run on PS4. This means that if Sony would decide to release PS5 in 2020, then the Japanese based tech giant would do nothing more than to create unwanted competition between its products.
PlayStation 5 Will Support Older Games
Obviously, there won’t be too many PS5 exclusive games when the console launches. Therefore, Sony is going to make the next-generation console compatible with games from previous consoles such as PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4.
“The aim is to make the applications designed for the previous consoles (legacy device) run perfectly on the most powerful hardware, and is focused on eliminating the synchronization errors between the new consoles and the behavior of the previous ones (PS4, PS3, PS2 and PSX),” the post reads. ” For example, if the CPU of the new console is faster than the previous one, data could be overwritten prematurely, even if they were still being used by another component,” said ark Cerny who is the architect behind PS4.
