Did you know that more than 1.5 billion people around the world are using Windows? It has indeed become an iconic OS with incredible popularity, mostly thanks to its accessibility – everybody can go into a store and have it installed. Moreover, after installing it, anyone can notice the fact that it’s remarkable through its reliability, efficiency, and price. However, to everybody’s surprise, back in 2015, Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will be the last release. From what they declared, the tech giant wants to adopt Apple’s model and rely on Windows 10 as a standard, releasing only updates for it.
But Is That Going to Happen?
Indeed, at the time that declaration spurred many controversies. Many fans were actually disappointed in the company’s approach, and at the end of 2018, we had a new set of rumors about Windows 11. What’s more, the forums in the field were filled with a screenshot showing a list of features for the Windows 11 Home OS. But what do we know so far about it?
The Shift to a Service
Basically, what Microsoft did with Windows 10 is the shift towards a service approach. Instead of releasing a new version of Windows every 3-5 years, they just release feature and quality updates every six months. However, we don’t think this is going to happen too soon. Contrary to all the rumors going around recently, Microsoft seems to be happy with the way things are going with Windows 10.
At the same time, the company seems to be directing their resources to other projects they have, namely Virtual Reality. They hope to make the latter access to the grand public somewhere in the near future. And we have to admit that this perspective makes us very excited to enjoy more tech in our lives!
