Nintendo always brought a significant contribution to the modern video game industry with its successful launches through the years. But the company never had success in mobile gaming, since 2016, the year the developers started to launch games for smartphones. So, after we found out that is the year when Nintendo will launch Mario Kart Tour and Dr. Mario World, we question ourselves: will Nintendo have success in the mobile games industry with Dr. Mario World?
It looks promising, as Dr. Mario World will be free-to-play and will avoid as much as possible the monetization of the game. The purpose of the game is not new to us, as you will have to clear the field by matching up the viruses with their capsules, but there are some things changed for the Dr. Mario World mobile version.
Changes in Dr. Mario World mobile version
Until now, the capsules went down on the field, but for the mobile version, they will slowly go from the bottom to the up-side of the screen as you will use your fingers to move them and place them on the right places in the field. If, until now, players had to match four objects of the same color to make them disappear from the field, for the mobile version the players will only have to match three items of the same color.
Among the changes, there will be new gameplay wrinkles introduced that will make the game more satisfying to play. Among others, Koopa shells will be available for some of the stages and, if you match them up with capsules, horizontal rows of viruses will be wiped out; in other stages there will be viruses encased in bubbles, so you will have to work hard first to crack their protective case, and then to knock them down.
As you advance in the game, you will have to go through more and more challenging stages.
Dr. Mario World might be Nintendo’s first successful mobile game
Let’s not forget that Dr. Mario World is a mobile puzzle game, so you will have a limited number of capsules per stage to clear all viruses. The failure to do so puts you back on the start of the level and takes up the stamina. Stamina, aka Heart, is the one you need to help grow in time by playing every stage. If you want to hurry up the process, you can use Diamonds, the premium in-game currency. You can use Diamonds to purchase essential items or to continue a failed stage.
Regarding the characters, the Mushroom Kingdom abounds of a lot of famous characters that are physicians, and you can add them to your staff. They will help you clear one random column of objects in a field along with three random objects. Other interesting characters in Dr. Mario World are the assistants, not as crucial as the physicians, but significant enough to give you some benefits while you play the game.
With all that being said, Dr. Mario World is promising to become Nintendo’s first successful mobile game.
