With so many people using WhatsApp across the world (about 2 billion users), you’re practically forced to use the app yourself. Everybody needs to keep in touch with family, co-workers, and friends, and it’s very hard to do it otherwise if they don’t all use the same instant messaging app.
Those using WhatsApp Web (the desktop version of the instant messaging app) have a new reason to be happy. WhatsApp is reportedly working on a Beta program for allowing Android and iOS beta users to utilize the app without the need of connecting their smartphones to the internet.
Users once joining the WhatsApp Web Beta program won’t have some features
WABetaInfo, the reliable website that brings a lot of useful info about WhatsApp, revealed the following:
“@WhatsApp will offer a WhatsApp Web Beta program for iOS and Android beta users, in order to use WhatsApp Web without having to keep your phone connected to the Internet!”
But you know what they say that you cannot have them all in life. Screenshots shared on WABetaInfo hinted that plenty of features for WhatsApp Web wouldn’t be available for users when they join the WhatsApp Web beta program: the ‘Delete for Everyone’ option is one of those features.
WhatsApp reports that users have to update to the latest version of the app to be able to chat with others that are enrolled in the program. Two people that are chatting or video calling each other through WhatsApp Web need to have the latest update installed. However, the newly added feature of video calling through WhatsApp Web will only work for Windows 10 and Mac users. Users previously have been using services such as LD Player to emulate an android app and run it on their computer.
WhatsApp normally uses the phone’s internet connection (5G/4G/3G/2G/EDGE/Wi-Fi) to allow users to message and call each other. Not only that you don’t have to pay for sending messages or calling through the instant messaging app, but there is also no subscription fee.
