You might have noticed a brand new skin on Fortnite. The chicken (named Tender Defender) became a popular skin in the game, but not many of you might know its origins. The creator of the Tender Defender skin is an eight-year-old boy named Connor. He designed the chicken skin and his “concept art” was posted by his dad on Reddit: “My son loves your game and he has a suggestion he wanted me to pass on to you. He thinks a character called Chicken Trooper would be totally rad.”
The note read “Dear Fornite. Please add a skin in Fortnite called the Chicken Trooper”. The boy also attached a drawing, adding a small explanation as well: “I am not good at drawing”. A concept artist loved the idea and he came up with a design for the Chicken Trooper. He also added the name Tender Defender for it.
The new skin
There was no official response until sleeping bag covered in feathers and drumsticks appeared in a shack in Lonely Lodge. This was a way of teasing the upcoming chicken skin which was indeed added to the game. The skin is named the Tender Defender and it comes with a cracked egg backpack and a Scrambler pickaxe. The skin costs 1,500 V-bucks.
Connor’s dad returned to Reddit to thank the users for making this possible and a video of Connor’s reaction is on its way:
We are so excited
I surprised Connor with the skin (right before we had to leave to an event) and he and his brother loved it. Thanks to everyone on Reddit who made this possible. You made his day. He is sporting a permanent grin.
You guys made me the coolest dad alive. I filmed his reaction and cant wait to share it with you all.
