The iPhones we received this year came with a new function. It is possible to use them with an e-sim. However, T-Mobile users were not able to use this feature as it required support from the service provider.
It appears that T-Mobile is now ready to offer that support. The service is available in the United States, and if you own an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or an iPhone XR, you can head over to the App Store on your Apple device to activate it.
The e-SIM service
This new service will be useful for many users. For example, those to travel to the United States won’t have to find a physical store in order to purchase a SIM. They just need to install the app and choose one of the three prepaid plans there. Once the payment is made, the user can start using his phone right away. It is simple, fast and convenient, and it’s definitely an improvement compared to the traditional way.
This is also great for T-Mobile as it allows users to test their services. It is now possible to choose one of their plans and change it if it does not match your needs. According to T-Mobile, postpaid plans should become available soon as well. Those who already are T-Mobile customers can add an extra line with this new feature.
Other service carriers such as AT&T and Verizon are expected to make this service available as well. In the future, you should see e-SIM plans from multiple providers. Not all new iPhones have this facility. For example, in China, they have two physical SIM slots.
