For Samsung phones running Oreo/Nougat
If you own a device older than the Galaxy S9 or you had one but did not receive the Pie update yet, where your phone runs on Nougat or Oreo the same method should be used in order to initiate a manual update. Here is a step by step guide that would get you through the process:
Step 1 – From the home screen or app drawer open Settings.
Step 2 – Get to the bottom of the page.
Step 3 – Go to Software update.
Step 4 – Click on Download and then on install to initiate an update manually.
Step 5 – To see if an OTA update is available your phone will connect to the server.
Step 6 – Scheduled software are also available. You only need to choose the desired time in the toggle for Scheduled software updates.
For Samsung phones running Pie
The Settings section has been simplified, but the method is quite the same as the previous one. To make sure that everything goes smoothly, here is the step by step guide.
Step 1 – From the home screen or app drawer open Settings.
Step 2 – Get to the bottom of the page.
Step 3 – Go to Software update.
Step 4 – Click on Download and then on install to initiate an update manually.
Step 5 – To see if an OTA update is available your phone will connect to the server.
The download will begin automatically if there is an update available.
If there is an update waiting, your phone will automatically commence the download.
A Scheduled install is also available for use so it will happen at the time you set it to.
After that, you will receive a confirmation that the install has been scheduled.
