The Android 9 Pie update was released 4 months ago and it is slowly rolling out for mobile devices. While some smartphones already received it, others are about to get it. It appears that the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the next name on the list.
The smartphone is quite popular with Indian uses, and it is one of the most capable budget smartphones on that market. The device runs on Stock Android, so it should be easy to update it. Until now the Asus smartphones weren’t exactly the first ones to get the Android updates, but it appears that they are working on that.
A timeline of the updates
Back on 19 November 2018, version 15.00.1810.87 OTA update was released for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The update was based on Android 8.1 Oreo and it also came with the Android security patch. It offered updates to multiple Asus official apps as well.
On 11 December, version 15.00.1810.89 based on Android 8.1 Oreo OTA update was seeding for the Zenfone Max Pro M1. This update came with some small fixes, as well as an upgrade for the Google app.
On 19 December, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 received the 15.2016.1811.338 FOTA update. The new version came with several improvements. For example, it enhanced primary camera performance when it comes to video recording, it improved the audio experience via the 3.5 mm jack port, it optimized third-party app compatibility, made the device power consumption better, it enabled TW CHT VoLTE+VoWIFI, enhanced the Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility and it also came with the November 2018 Android security patch.
Finally, on 21 January 2019, the FOTA version, OPM1.WW_Phone-15.2016.1901.339-20190108 began rolling out. It is based on Android Oreo and it came with the January security patches.
