Android updates usually require a lot of time in order to reach all eligible smartphones. While Google works hard on Android 10, many smartphones haven’t received Android 9 Pie update. Fortunately, the update is still rolling out. Today, we are going to talk about Samsung Galaxy S8 devices, as their users are the lucky ones who will get the update next.
Three other Android 9 Pie beta updates were released so far for these devices. On February 16, Samsung Galaxy S8 Global variants began receiving the Android Pie based OneUI beta 4 updates. The update had the build number G950FXXU4ZSB9 and it came with several bug fixes.
If we take a look at the Galaxy Note 8 we can see that it is receiving the complete Android Pie update in Eastern Europe. Therefore, it’s about time for Samsung Galaxy S8 devices to receive it as well.
The latest update
The last beta update comes with the G950FXXU4ZSB9 and G955FXXU4ZSB9 numbers for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, respectively. The new update does come with certain improvements and it managed to fix some of the issues that existed in the previous versions. The most important fix is for an error that didn’t allow NFC to function properly.
The new update also solves other issues. For example, users complained that when they opened the recent app drawer their devices froze. Others reported the stock keyboard disappearing completely when they were dialing a number. The new update brought fixes for all these problems.
Since this is the fourth update, and we already know that the stable release is rolling out on the Galaxy Note 8 in Eastern Europe, we expect the final Android 9 Pie update to be released on the Galaxy S8 very soon.
