It won’t take that long until Google will release Android 10 Q. While it might be exciting to think about all the new features Google will bring when it comes to the next Android version, there continue to be numerous smartphones that haven’t received Android 9 Pie yet.
The good news is that the update is slowly reaching more devices, although this isn’t a fast process. More than that, we are not sure whether certain smartphones will even receive the update. That’s the case for Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The Android 8.1 Oreo Update
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro already received a big update, Android Oreo 8.1. Therefore, there’s a chance that the phone won’t receive Android 9 Pie as well. Back on 26 January this year, the Redmi Note 5 Pro received the MIUI 10 9.1.24 (beta) update based on Android Oreo 8.1 build.
The update brought all the features of Android 8.1 Oreo. The latest releases fixed various issues as well and they got rid of certain bugs experienced by users.
Will the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro receive the Android 9 Pie Update?
The good news is that the device should receive the Android 9 Pie Update in the features. On 25 February, Xiaomi already opened the beta registration program into Android 9 Pie for several smartphones. The list included the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Y2, and Redmi 6 Pro in India.
According to several reports, the Android 9 Pie update should reach the Redmi Note 5 Pro in late 2019. This means that users still have to wait a couple of months until the update is released for their devices. This shouldn’t surprise us, as the device is incredibly popular, especially in India. Therefore, it makes sense to release the Android 9 Pie update for these smartphones.
