Spotify is one of the best streaming services and it is used by users from all over the world. The company aims to discover new markets, especially since there is a fierce competition between it and other music services such as Apple Music.
Finally, Spotify decided to expand on the Indian market. There are numerous users here and the music market is expanding incredibly fast. Indian users will receive two options when it comes to Spotify.
They can choose Spotify Free, which offers Indian users the possibility to listen to any song on demand. The system is a bit different from the one present in other markets. Meanwhile, there is also a premium tier, which is a lot cheaper in India.
The prices start at $1,67 (Rs 119), while the same service costs $13.25 in the United Kingdom, $9.99 in the United States and $11,30 in France. More than that, there is also a pay-as-you-go-option which allows users to get Spotify Premium for 18 cents a day and 55 cents per month.
The prices are incredibly low, but they are adapted to the needs of the Indian market. This should offer Spotify a major advantage in this country, even against big companies such as Google and Apple. Apple Music also offers low prices, but there is no free tier.
“As Spotify grows, our goal is to bring millions of artists and billions of fans together from every country and background. India has an incredibly rich music culture, and to best serve this market, we’re launching a custom-built experience. Not only will Spotify bring Indian artists to the world, we’ll also bring the world’s music to fans across India. Spotify’s music family just got a whole lot bigger,” said Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek in a statement.
