GTA 5 was a hit among gamers, but the title was released more than five years ago. Many players are looking forward to the next entry in the series, but Rockstar hasn’t shared any details about the upcoming GTA 6. The studio released Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, and the game received universal acclaim from players and critics alike.
GTA 6 might not be under development at Rockstar Games
Rockstar spent eight years on the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, and it is likely that they aren’t working on GTA 6 just yet. Some gamers fear that another GTA title won’t arrive shortly due to a straightforward reason: GTA Online.
The successful online mode has generated incredible amounts of revenue as players have the option to exchange real-world money for in-game currency. GTA Online has received a constant flow of updates which added additional content like cars, houses, attire, new events, and activities.
The fans who hoped that Rockstar would offer single-player DLC were disappointed by the fact that Rockstar claimed that GTA V is a complete experience and it doesn’t need story DLC.
The announcement that an online mode will accompany red Dead Redemption was met with mixed reactions as some voices claimed that Rockstar would continue to focus on monetization instead of spending the resources on the development of a fresh IP or a new video game.
We might not get GTA 6 before 2021
Dedicated GTA Online players were stressed about Red Dead Online, believing that the new mode will rob them of future updates but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The number of people who play Red Dead Online has fallen dramatically due to several controversies, with some accusing Rockstar that they are pushing aggressive monetization.
It is unlikely that GTA 6 will make an appearance before 2021 since Rockstar tends to spend at least five years on the development of a new GTA title. Some rumors claim that the studio is hiring people for an upcoming project, but it remains to be seen if the title isn’t a new IP.
