Borderlands 3 Would Not Come With Slag Weapons, Gearbox CEO Said

Fans all around the world have been patiently waiting for news on the new Borderlands 3 game that will be released later this year. They took to Twitter to ask the game producers for more information about the upcoming release.

The response brought some bad news and some good ones. Much to their disappointment, it seems that the infamous Slag weapons from Borderlands 2 won’t be included in Borderlands 3, according to Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford’s response on Twitter. The Slag weapons were obviously a fan-favorite, so players were saddened by the news.

The good news, on the other hand, is that there will be a new ”element” type called Nuclear. Nuclear weapons will have the ability to cause vulnerability and damage-over-time to the enemies they’re used on. This is definitely big news for players, as it adds an exciting feature to the game.

In short, Borderlands 3 won’t feature Slag weapons like the previous title

This is Pitchford’s original tweet:

“There is no slag – we replaced it with something that actually makes a little sense. The new ‘element’ damage type, which is like a nuclear radiation effect, is having a similar impact to slag (increased vulnerability by those affected) and also has a damage-over-time component.”

Slag weapons were one “element” type from Borderlands 2, a purple ooze-like substance that makes enemies covered in it to take more damage by other weapons like fire and corrosive. However, fans are also very excited about the world gameplay presentation that will be coming early next month so that we will find out more relevant information about the Borderlands 3 soon.

Borderlands 3 will be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC next fall, on September 13, 2019. It is the third installment in Gearbox’s popular series, Borderlands, and it is also one of the most sought-after games in 2019. We hope we’ll have a great game.
