Is Candy Crush Saga not working after an update? Here’s how to fix it.
A number of Candy Crush Saga players have complained of the game not working (not opening at all) shortly after updating the game. While a number of factors could be responsible for this, the most probable cause is incomplete or faulty installation of the new update.
In any case, some of the solutions in this tutorial will help you fix the error.
Fix: Candy Crush Saga Not Working After Update
Before running any fix, first try and restart your phone. Most times, this is all the troubleshooting method you need.
Solution 1: Clear Cache
If/when this error occurs, it’s possible that the update triggered a bug (instead of fixing it), and this could be the cause of the error.
To fix this error, in this case, you can try clearing the cache, as described below (for Android):
- Go to Settings.
- Find and tap on Apps or Application Manager (depending on your device).
- Locate Candy Crush Saga and tap on it.
- Select Storage > Clear cache.
- Exit Settings.
Now, go back and relaunch the game. It should now open fine.
Solution 2: Reinstall the Game
This is the more popular fix in this situation (incomplete or faulty installation). By removing the game, you can reinstall a clean and complete package afresh.
To uninstall Candy Crush:
- Tap on the Home icon.
- Locate and click on the Settings app.
- Select Candy Crush Saga > Uninstall.
- Confirm action, as prompted, and then exit Settings.
Now, go to Play Store (Android users) or App Store (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users) and download a new package of the game. And ensure that the game is fully installed before opening it.
Check if the error is fixed.
Solution 3: Free Up RAM/Memory
At times, there could be nothing wrong with the game, in which case, the problem is from your phone. Notable factors here include clogged up RAM and/or clustered storage.
Typically, you get the error-message – “Unfortunately Candy Crush Saga has stopped” – quite often. And to fix this, you’d have to remove some apps/files to provide some breathing space in your RAM.
Ultimately, you may have to reset your phone (to factory settings). This is the ultimate solution to RAM storage issues, especially on Android.
