How to turn off Google App trending searches in Android devices
If you are an android user and you are getting ‘annoying’ trending search on your Google App, then follow these simple steps to turn it off:
Step 1: Launch your Google App by tapping on the Google App icon in your launcher
Step 2: Tap on the menu in the form of three horizontal bar at the top right-hand corner of your screen
Step 3: Tap on ‘settings’ on your Google dashboard
Step 4: Tap on ‘Autocomplete’ > ‘Show trending stories (Display trending stories in your area)’
Step 5: Tap on the switch button to switch off the ‘Show trending stories.’ You can re-enable trending stories by simply tapping on the switch button.
How to turn off Google App trending searches in iOS devices
iOS devices Google App with a specific feature that removes the trending searches for the duration of use when it is turned on. This feature works in a similar way the Incognito mode works when using the Chrome browser in incognito mode.
If you are using an iOS device, you can turn on this feature by following the steps below.
Step 1: Launch the Google App on your iOS device.
Step 2: Tap on your profile icon
Step 3: Tap on ‘turn on Incognito’ to turn off trending searches all through the duration of use.
When using Google App in incognito mode, you will not be able to receive discover cards because your Google App is not connecting to your Google account to generate personalised news for you.
