A notorious error, widely encountered in Battlefield is the “flickering problem”. And here’s how to fix it.
DICE’s classic – Battlefield – is available in numerous series, and all the series are available in digital edition – for PCs and Macs. However, a notorious error in this edition is the flickering problem, which eventually crashes the game.
If you’re encountering this problem, this tutorial will show you ways around it.
How to Fix Battlefield Flickering Problem
The cause of this problem could be an issue with your graphics card or a bug in the version you’re running.
Anyway, you can try the fixes below from your end:
Note: Ensure that the resolution of the game matches that of your screen display.
Fix 1: Reconfigure the video settings
This problem has been attributed, in some quarters, to the “FrameRATE Limiter” setting of the game. And some players claimed they were able to resolve the problem by upgraging the setting’s value.
To do this:
- navigate to the video settings of the game;
- locate the FrameRATE Limiter setting; and
- set its value between “110” and “130”.
If the problem persists, try the next fix.
Fix 2: Repair/update game
Although, DICE’s yet to acknowledge this problem/error, it’s possible that a patch has been released with the latest (or recent) update. So, try and run the “repair install” option in Origin.
To run this procedure, follow the steps below:
- Go to Documents on your PC.
- Locate and right-click
- Select Delete.
- Confirm action and exit window.
- Now, launch Origin.
- Go to your games library.
- Locate Battlefield and right-click it.
- Select Repair install. This action would repair any inherent error, and install a clean (and updated) package for you.
- Allow the repair and the subsequent update to run.
Now, launch the game and see if the problem persists. If it does, try the next fix.
Fix 3: Update or reinstall graphics drivers
Another factor that has been attributed to this error is “outdated graphic card(s). Typically, if your graphics card/drivers are out-of-date, you’re bound to encounter errors like this. And the ultimate solution would be to update the drivers.
To update graphics drivers, simply navigate to your graphics card manufacturer’s website and install the latest version. Better still, you can easily uninstall and reinstall the drivers afresh.
