Apparently, famed polish video game developers from CD Projekt Red are working on three games that involved the upcoming Cyberpunk project. The CEO of the company said so during a business meeting in Poland.
He has stated that the studio’s future plans will revolve around the Cyberpunk universe. So expect to see the Polish wonder team at work on these games for about 5-10 years. Which is very cool but hopefully they will have other projects as well.
Here’s hoping that the Witcher series is not completely dead. Geralt had his happy ending in the Witcher 3 after many years of unbelievable trials and adventures. But perhaps another witcher could be the focus of a new series.
They would not have direct source material from the author of the Wicher books. But the devs did manage to create exciting witchers in their flavor texts.
The Cyberpunk Universe
Everybody and their dog knows about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game. But it is reported that CD Projekt Red will be making another game which will be in the Cyberpunk universe. Company CEO Piotr Nielubowicz also said that this project is already in development and it will force them to be innovative during its creation.
‘Cyberpunk Universe’ can mean many things, though. Depending on your perception between the difference between the universe and the multiverse.
As Ciri said in not so many words that she visited the Cyberpunk universe during her many travels. But it would be safe to assume we’re not getting any Witcher related medieval fantasy game any time soon despite the many possibilities in interpreting the statement from studio management.
One of the projects the studio is working on is believed to be a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077. They may have set up a 40 person team to work on this project, with each one of their games getting their own team.
One of these teams, a fourth one, is currently working on updating the standalone Gwent game from the Witcher 3.
What to expect from Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 will be two times bigger than the Witcher 3 in terms of free space needed on your hard drive. Theoretically, it should have two times the content. The game will also get DLCs in the same way as Witcher 3.
It was announced that Keanu Reeves would play a character that will have an essential part in the game’s progression. Something that almost broke the internet. So if people weren’t excited enough about the future franchise, they are now.
Cyberpunk 2077 will see a multi-platform release on the 16th of April 2020.
