Have you ever wondered what is the most important component of the Android operating system? If yes, then you might be surprised to find out that it is Google Play Services. The reason why so many Android fans don’t know what Google Play Services does on their smartphones is because it is a background app. This means that all the tasks that Google Play Services is taking care of are “under the hood” problems of Android powered smartphones.
Even though Google Play Services might not be as popular as the Google Play Store, for example, the Android parent is still offering full-fledged developer support to Google Play Services. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that Google Play Services has recently received a new update. With that said, let’s go ahead and check out everything there is to know about the new update.
Google Play Services 18.4.53 Update
Android fans should be pleased to find out that a new update which sports the 18.4.53 version number has just been made available for download. The update can be downloaded in two ways. The first one is to manually download and install it in the form of APK (Android Package Kit). The tricky part about this type of updates is that they are compatible only with Android-powered smartphones that have the “Unknown Sources” option enabled.
Furthermore, the new update can also be simply downloaded via Google’s OTA (over the air) channels. We are advising Android fans to pick this option because the only thing that they need to do is to keep their smartphones connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
Bug Fixes
The question that most of you are probably asking right now is what’s new? Well, the new update for Google Play Services doesn’t come with any new features and instead, it introduces a slew of bug fixes that are taking the performances of Android-powered smartphones to the next level.
