Most of you might know that Google Play Services is the most important component in the Android operating system, but did you know that there is a special version of it that enables AR (augmented reality) technology? This special version is called Google Play Services for AR and it’s an Android package that doesn’t just unlock AR experiences for smartphones via ARCore SDK, but it also boosts the performances of apps and games that are equipped with AR features.

Augmented Reality (AR)

Like it or not, AR is taking over the world. Developers are finding more and more uses for AR in their apps and this is why AR is being implemented in all high-end Android smartphones. The perfect example of this is how the popular Pokemon Go makes it possible for people to catch Pokemon in the real world by using AR.

Google Play Services for AR 1.11.19071515 Update

Nonetheless, the reason why Google Play Services for AR is making headlines on our website today is because the Android parent has just released a new update for it. The update sports the 1.11.19071515 version number and Google’s developers who are in charge of the AR department are rolling it out via OTA (over the air) channels.

Since the update is being rolled out OTA, the only thing that Android fans need to do in order to download the new update is to simply keep their smartphones connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. In addition, the update is available only for smartphones that support AR.

60FPS Rendering

The question that everyone must be asking right now is what’s new? The answer to that question is support for 60FPS rendering on smartphones that are equipped with powerful hardware. The last thing that we want to mention about Google Play Services for AR is that it was previously known as ARCore.
