How to Fix Battery Drain on iOS Devices?

Battery life is important for many smartphone users since charging your device multiple times per day can be quite annoying.  If your iOS device seems to drain a little too fast check out the guide below in order to improve the battery life of your device.

  1. Track down the issue

In order to solve the problem you will have to test your device. There is a simple test that will reveal battery drain issues.

  1. Go to Settings and look for the Battery section.
  2. Tap on it and look for the Usage and Standby sections.
  3. Write the two stats on a piece of paper.
  4. Turn off your device and wait for 5 minutes
  5. Repeat steps a to c and compare the numbers.
  6. If the difference is larger than 1 minute battery drain issues are present.

  1. Disable unnecessary features

In order to save battery life you should turn off features that aren’t used. The prime culprit here is Bluetooth, which is used in order to enable many wireless accessories. It can be turned off by opening the action center and tapping on the Bluetooth icon.

You can also disable location services and background app refresh features. To disable the former go to Settings/Privacy and tap on the Location services button and for the latter go to Settings/General and tap in the Background App Refresh button. Keep in mind that some notification will no longer appear when an event takes place so don’t do it if you need them.

  1. Check the connection

Cellular data will drain your device fast. Use a Wi-Fi connection when possible and remember to disable both connections when you don’t need them.

  1. Update and remove apps

In some cases, the drain can be caused by outdated apps. You can easily update them by going to the App store, tapping on the update section and tapping again on the Update all option. You can uninstall any downloaded app by touching the icon until an x mark appears and tapping on the sign.

  1. Replace your battery

If the issues continue you may want to replace your battery. This can be done at an Authorized Apple Store or provider. Third-party repair stores can also help you if an official store is not available where you live.

These tips should help your battery in the long run. Enjoy!
