YouTube can be used for all types of content, from tutorials to short videos or even movies. However, the app is also a great source of music. Play YouTube videos in the background
- Desktop version
You can play YouTube in the background as long as you use the desktop version on mobile. In order to do this, you need to access YouTube on Safari from your iPhone or iPad. Once the site is loaded tap the Share icon that is located at the bottom of the screen. Choose “Request Desktop Site”.
The Desktop version will load and you can play a video. Once you play a video you need to open a new tab and load a website there, then go back to the Home Screen. Now YouTube is playing in the background and you can use the Control Center to pause the video if you want.
- YouTube Premium
If you are looking for a free solution, this is not what you need. However, YouTube Premium will allow you to play videos in the background. More than that, this service will also remove ads from your videos. YouTube Premium users also receive YouTube Music Premium, YouTube Originals and more.
- UC Browser
While regular browsers won’t allow you to play YouTube videos in the background, the UC Browser does come with this feature. If you use YouTube on that browser you will be able to play videos in the background even if you use different apps. Just open the UC Browser and head over to youtube.com and play a video.
