Gmail is one of the best mailing platforms and it belongs to Google, which is one of the reasons why so many users rely on it. The app has plenty of features and developers make sure that Gmail offers the best possible experience. We haven’t received a major update in a while, but it appears that the latest version does bring something new.
Gmail APK version 8.12 was recently released and it does come with an interesting new function, Dynamic Email Support. The new option was discovered by APK Testers from AndroidPolice. In the teardown of the last APK they discovered the option for Dynamic Email, as well as Accelerated Mobile Pages. Basically they looked inside the application package of the app, searching for files or code. This is how they were able to come across this information.
What will these features do?
The Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) should help your mobile device load the mail a lot quicker, even when the internet connection is slower. The option to enable AMP was discovered by testers. They also found the Dynamic Mail option. Using this function allows you to include AMP mails with the regular versions, as a MIME type. Some users might consider this new feature useful, while others might not use it that much. Here is the code found by testers:
“<string name=“preference_dynamic_mail_title“>Enable Dynamic Mail</string>
<string name=“preference_dynamic_mail_summary“>Enable Dynamic Mail content in emails when available. Dynamic Mail content will not be shown when the Images setting is set to ask.</string>
excerpt from /xml/gmail_account_preferences.xml
<CheckBoxPreference android:title=“@string/preference_dynamic_mail_title“ android:key=“dynamic-mail-enabled“ android:summary=“@string/preference_dynamic_mail_summary“ android:defaultValue=“false“/>”
If you want to get the update right away you can download the APK file on a Google search, and then install it on your own. You can also wait until Google officially releases the OTA update.
