Are you experiencing the license error in Minecraft PE? Here’s how to fix it.
A number of Minecraft Pocket Edition players have complained of a license error, which is typically accompanied by the error-message: “It appears you don’t have a license for Minecraft”.
This error is mainly encountered after a recent purchase/update/installation from Play Store, and it’s mainly caused by account (Google account) configuration or license verification issues.
To fix this error, you can try the fixes herein.
How to Fix Minecraft PE License
Minecraft Pocket Edition comes with a license package, which is made available upon purchase, before initial installation. However, there are times when the game fails to load or simply stops working, in which case, you get the license error message.
If you’re encountering this error, below are some of the fixes you can try to restore normalcy:
Method 1: Restart device
This is quite rudimentary, but it’s the first recommended fix. At times, the license error may have been caused by a minor device/app glitch, in which case, restarting your device would fix the whole thing.
If the error persists, simply proceed with the next fix.
Method 2: Clear cache & data
Although, this error is rarely associated with a cache corruption/damage, it’d be ill-advised to rule it out. So, try and clear the game’s cache and data.
To do this:
- go to Settings;
- select Apps > Minecraft;
- tap on Clear cache; and
- proceed to Clear data.
If the license error still pops up, proceed with the next fix.
Method 3: Reinstall game
First off, uninstall the game from your device: Settings > Apps & notifications (Apps) > Minecraft > Uninstall. After uninstalling the game, reinstall it back from Play Store.
If the error persists, proceed with the next fix.
Method 4: Reset Google account & Play Store
To do this, follow the steps below:
- Remove Play Store/Google account: Settings > Accounts > Google > (Google account) > Remove account.
- Go to Settings: “Force stop” Google Play Store and proceed to clear its cache and data.
- Restart device.
- Re-add deleted Google account and launch Play Store.
- Sign in with the recovered account.
- Reinstall Minecraft.
With this procedure, your Minecraft PE license should now be duly verified.
