There are many reasons why your iPhone or iPad may be running slowly. There have been reports of iOS devices running slower after upgrading to iOS 13.

Here are some recommended tips to make your slow iOS devices run faster.

Solution 1: Check your internet connection speed

  • Check your internet connection speed. There are many sites where you can check your network connectivity speed. one of such websites is speedtest.com
  • If your network connectivity speed is slow, you may want to try out the following:
    • Connect to a Wi-Fi network. You should move your Wi-Fi to an open place with less signal obstruction
    • Reset your Modem and Wi-Fi router by unplugging your modem and router from the power source for about 30 seconds before connecting to the power source.

Solution 2: Restart your iOS device

  • Hold-down the power button located at the top-left side of your iOS device
  • Drag the displayed power icon to the right to power off your device

Solution 3: Update your device’s iOS

  • Launch your device’s settings and navigate to ‘General.’
  • Tap on ‘Software Update’ at the top-right, beneath ‘About.’
  • Tap on ‘Download and Install’ at the bottom-right
  • If you do not see ‘Download and Install,’ it means no update is available.
  • Enter your passcode when prompted
  • You need to Agree to Apple’s T&Cs.
  • Tap on ‘Agree’ to confirm your action.

Solution 4: Delete all unused apps

  • Press your device’s home button to launch the home screen
  • Tap and hold on any app for some seconds.
  • An ‘X’ icon in a circle is displayed at the top-left of each app.
  • Tap on the ‘X’ icon on each app you want to delete
  • Once you are done deleting unwanted apps, tap on your device’s home button to end the ‘delete’ action.

Solution 5: Turn off ‘Background App Refresh’

  • Launch your device’s settings and navigate to ‘General.’
  • Tap on ‘Background App Refresh’ at the right side, almost at the center of ‘General’ settings
  • Toggle off the ‘Background App Refresh’ button. Alternatively, you may switch off background refresh for some apps of choice.

Solution 6: Turn off Location services

  • Launch your device’s settings and navigate down to locate the ‘Privacy’ settings
  • Tap on ‘Location Services’ at the top-right
  • Toggle off the ‘Location Services’ button. You can turn off location services for each app alternatively.
