Tom Hanks is Not Playing Solitaire Again Anytime Soon

Although Solitaire is an addictively fun game with cards, Tom Hanks doesn’t share the same view. The great actor who delighted us in unforgettable roles from movies such as ‘The Green Mile’ or ‘Forrest Gump’ says that he has been playing many hands of the card game and he has nothing to show for the effort.

Tom Hanks also tells us that he didn’t have any Zoom schooling sessions during the past year, no remote job, and no children to parent. For a good part of the lockdowns and social distancing, the actor considered Solitaire as a harmless enterprise, a salve for the mind, and also a good way of making time flow faster.

Solitaire becomes dangerously addictive

Tom Hanks’ major disappointment with Solitaire is that the game becomes dangerously addictive, as the actor reveals for The Wall Street Journal a detailing experience. Hanks says that he has done nothing else during the lockdown other than playing the game.

As Tom Hanks saw the deck of cards placed on the table, he didn’t even have to think before he was taking up the file of 52 to begin riffing, shuffling, and cutting. Adding the context that there was plenty of other stuff to do, you can understand why the addiction was dangerous.

Hanks reveals that he also had to do things like emptying the dishwasher, sorting the laundry, putting rice in the cooker, talking to kids, cleaning the sink, packing books in the suitcase, writing something, and more. However, the actor could still do some of the tasks, but Solitaire still became annoyingly addictive.

Tom Hanks seems decided not to play Solitaire ever again. He believes that playing the card game even for a single time would be a waste of time. However, Solitaire remains hugely popular across the world, as it has the advantage of inducing the player into a calm and meditative state and especially because of the number of variations it comes in such as Klondike Solitaire, Spider, FreeCell and dozens more you can put your hands on.
