How to fix slow Android device
Solution 1: Clear out cached data
- Tap on your device’s settings icon
- Scroll through your device’s settings and tap on ‘Storage.’
- Scroll to ‘Cached data.’
- Tap on ‘Cached data’>> Tap ‘OK’ to clear your device’s cached data.
Solution 2: turn-off animations
- Tap on your device’s settings icon
- Scroll down and tap on ‘About phone.’ It is at the bottom of the ‘Settings.’
- Tap on the ‘Build number’ five times to enable the ‘Developer options.’
- Return to ‘About phone’ and tap on the ‘Developer options.’
- Scroll through to ‘Window animation scale.’
- Tap on the ‘Window animation scale’ and check the ‘Animation off’ circle.
- Repeat instructions above for ‘Transition animation scale’ and ‘Animator duration scale.’
- Ensure that the trio animation settings are displaying ‘Animation off.’
Solution 3: Uninstall or disable unused apps
- Tap on your device’s settings icon
- Scroll through the settings and tap on ‘Apps.’
- Scroll through the app list to locate unused apps taking up more space than necessary.
- Tap on each app to direct you to the app’s info page
- Tap on ‘Uninstall’>> OK to confirm your action.
- If there is no ‘Uninstall’ option, tap on ‘Disable’ to disable the app.
- Repeat the same steps for other unused apps you want to uninstall.
- Exit settings and restart your device.
Solution 3: Remove widgets
- Hold down any widget of your choice until the ‘Remove’ icon with an ‘X’ sign appears at the top of the screen.
- Drag the widget to the ‘Remove’ icon and release your hold on the widget.
Solution 4: Free up more storage space
- Delete all unwanted images, music, videos, movies, documents, etc. from your device either through your device’s file explorer or your multimedia app.
Solution 5: Uninstall third-party cleaner apps and phone monitor apps
Carry out the instructions in solution three above to uninstall all third-party apps from your device.
Solution 6: Update your device’s software
- Tap on your device’s settings icon
- Scroll down to ‘About phone’ and tap on ‘Wireless update.’
- Tap on ‘Check for updates’ to download and install updates if available.
